Wishmas
Santa dear So I hear Christmas is a time To spread good cheer. You grant wishes galore To rich and poor Dispel gloom Chase away fear To desolate hearts Bring celestial warmth And light up souls With star-spangled mirth!
Why then Did you so conspire To deny my sole wish Break my hopeful heart? I did not ask The world of you- Just one tiny corner To be my universe Just one little star In my firmament To light my path Now dreary and dark.
Or perhaps On second thoughts It was a tall order For you to grant And let me have Just what I want Had you fulfilled My cherished dream Why then would I desire Your charity to light my fire Or eagerly await Your next arrival
I never wished on stars But this one was Well, unique! Little wonder, then It's charm You couldn't resist! Alongwith the star You took away My lone ray of hope! O Harbinger of cheer, This cruel joke was An agonising wish-miss.
